Every time I look into the eyes of the 49, I see stories. Each one of these wonderful young vibrant souls lived a story that we did not get to experience.

Life stories…..We all have one. Anderson Cooper wrote his. Rainbows Come and Go is a dialogue between him and his mother. I could not put the book down. It not only is a fascinating look into a lifestyle way beyond my imagination but what I found more intriguing is the fact of how little he knew about his mother.

I certainly have not lived as Gloria Vanderbilt has however, my life has been an adventure of many twists and turns. I have been very fortunate to have lived in many countries….from the African bush to traveling Europe and many other countries. Fortunately ending up here in the USA.

Anyway……Anderson Cooper inspired me to do something different. Of course my two children know a lot about me but,…..there is so much that I have not spoken about…for many personal reasons. Our family is very small, in fact my two children will carry on the immediate family legacy they know so little about. So, I though, “what the heck“…time to tell them my story.

We meet for dinner at their request and it’s open forum. Time for the story to unfold. I allow them to ask….I have promised to be totally honest even if it hurts. They also know that there are only three stories that are my private chapters and will remain so, otherwise it’s open forum. Since we have started this we have laughed and cried….its felt really good. There are questions that they have admitted that now is not a good time to ask….they don’t want to go there yet. I love the way my story keeps unfolding. Bronwyn and Matthew can take their family story with them, it becomes their life story…..and so the story never ends.

I do not want to allow the story of the 49 to die. I feel I am somewhat responsible for finding their story and keeping it alive.

Keep their stories alive.

Never forgotten.
